new User-Profiles in SPOTTERON

new User-Profiles in SPOTTERON

Who are the Citizen Scientists? Which profession or education do they have? Why are they participating in my Citizen Science project? With the new user profiles, these questions are a central element in the Citizen Science Systems SPOTTERON. The Citizen Scientists can now extend their user account with background information directly in the smartphone apps. Additionally, users can upload their own profile picture - because Citizen Science is also a personal matter.

USER TYPES FOR CITIZEN SCIENTISTS

For the new functionalities, we also did a complete overhaul of the registration process. Citizen Scientists in SPOTTERON can now set up their user profile in two easy steps: first the creation of the account and secondly the set up of their own user profile with optional data.

Since Citizen Science is not only done by individuals but also by school classes or organisations with group accounts, therefor the following user types in SPOTTERON are available at registration via form of address:
userprofile type female userprofile type male userprofile type schoolclass userprofile type organisation

Citizen Scientist,

After the account creation, the users find themselves already logged in directly in-app. In the second step they can now extend their user profiles and by doing so providing important background information for the project.

AVATARS & THE USER PANEL

With SPOTTERON, the Citizen Scientists become visible. All users and group accounts can upload their own profile picture, called "avatar". This picture is not only displayed at the user profiles, but also at the spot detail view and the ranking lists. Further personalization elements like the free quote or the addtional background infos like education, etc. are available in the user profile panel.

MY SPOT COLLECTION

As a Citizen Scientist, I am always happy to provide new data for the projects, I am participating in. That's why we made the "My spot collection" panel the central element of the new user profile.

All user's submissions are displayed chronologically at each Citizen Science smartphone app in the SPOTTERON network.

We were part of the #ScienceMarchVienna for sure, walking along around 3.000 participants for a strengthend science as an important principle of a modern and open society. Here is a short video clip with some impressions at our twitter account - and yes, it includes dinosaurs!
